As a Michigan fan I'm willing to acknowledge that The Ohio State band is in the top tier of college bands, along with Michigan, Texas A & M and some others. These bands work and practice as much as the team, and at least in Michigan, they're considered to be an important part of the team. Back about 10 years ago Michigan had an unfortunate choice for an athletic director that wanted to save money so he didn't want the band to travel with the team to a non-conference away game. The entire Michigan community was outraged and protested so much the incompetent athletic director had no choice but to send the band. That's how important they are to the fans and the team. The team doesn't go anywhere without the band! Needless to say, that guy got fired!

Thank you for your trip and video. I liked your relaxed style of wandering through the cemeteries, monuments, beaches, towns, and gardens. The cemetery with all of the plantings and flowers between each grave was lovely, what an extraordinary effort and tribute to these heroes.

Our news just had an interview on D day anniversary with American soldiers that are now 100 years old at Normandy. They flew over to let their friends know that they will never forget them. Different kind of men.

I salute all WWII veterans and KIA soldiers, especially the Brazilian soldiers (F.E.B - Brazilian Expeditionary Force), who fought in the WWII, that won and liberated Italy from Nazi Fascism.

Thank you for showing this. My grandfather fought in the US army at Normandy, Sicily, North Africa, and in Germany in the battle of the bulge. He survived all of it with two Purple Hearts and a bronze star. He never ever wanted to talk about it. I can’t afford go to France so this is a great opportunity to see some of that. Thank you.

I know this is an old thread but I'm really surprised to see how many negative comments you've received. A lot of people get real brave at midnight behind a keyboard after 5 or 6 beers. Do these people who think you should know everything about Metallica know anything about jazz, opera, or classical music- all of which has been around a lot longer than metal. I'd be willing to bet they don't. I'm an old guy and I've been discovering new music all my life. And just sticking with rock for a moment, when I moved from Detroit to Los Angeles I heard completely different music being played on the radio. Artists I'd never even heard of in Detroit were getting lot of airplay in LA, and vice versa. So these intolerant posters need to realize that the entire world doesn't listen to Metallica just because they do. Just like I don't know the first thing about rap, even the artists that are extremely successful. As a 21-year old woman you're in the discovery phase of life and you've made it very clear that's what your channel is all about. I subscribed after the first time I found one of your videos by accident. It was about your visit to the American cemetery at Normandy. I was moved that a young French girl wanted to make that trip, and then come back a second time because she didn't have flowers to place on the graves, and to visit the Canadian and WWI cemeteries. I wonder how many of these loudmouth Metallic fans have ever though to do that? I appreciated your desire to explore and learn about different things, especially America. I think your English is very good and has gotten even better since this video was made. I also think some of these negative posters are just jealous that you've made a successful channel and have a lot of subscribers interested in following you. They're envious because you're enjoying yourself in the process, and also because nobody would ever watch them or care what their opinions are. Of course, I'd be willing to bet none of them could even edit a video, so it's a moot point.

Unfortunately thanks to Hollywood The Normandy invasion is seen as a mostly American thing. Which is of course absolute nonsense. Most of the troops that landed were British and Canadian, most of the air cover was RAF and most of the naval involvement was British.

i don't speak french at all, i'm american, and i can hear a difference between french from france and quebec french. they sound like they speak french with an american accent. they also do R's at the end of a word like the Irish, at least to my ears. i really like how it sounds

I am so glad you are able to appreciate your freedom and those who paid the ultimate price for it. Unfortunately there are so many people these days that don't understand that and take their freedoms for granted. To me maybe Eleanor Roosevelt said it best "with freedom comes responsibility" there sure are a lot of irresponsible people out there these days. A buddy of mine (with a degree in French, X number of years teaching French and experience traveling thru Francophone countries), & I were travelling through Lafayette, LA on a Friday night. We happened to catch the Cajun show on KBON 101, where everything was spoken in Cajun. He listened to everything they said with the concentration of someone being given instructions on how to defuse a bomb. After a few minutes I asked him if he understood anything? And without missing a beat he replied "Not A Word!!" 😂

While I don't speak French, I have worked on disasters in New Orleans, Houma, and lower Louisianna LA several times. Words printed on Maps that I know in French and Spanish are pronounced completely differently. "Des Allemands" which I know to be "The Germans" They pronounce as Diz Almonds (like the nuts). They did not know it meant "Germans", even though history says that's where the German settlement was. This being said, I have found the Cajuns to be the warmest, kindest, hardest-working people I have ever met. Their life is hard, but with family, love, and a little music, their land is paradise to them.

At minute 7:57 .... Coeur d'Alene .... at the time of this video could you imagine that you would go there one day? Fun, fun, fun! Back of the bus adventures.

Thanks so much for posting this, as so many people these days take the freedoms they have for granted. We had two family members that served in WWII, one Navy & one Marines and fortunately I got to hear some of their stories first hand, we miss you Brownie & Norm. I personally prefer to read some of the books about this time. Some of my favorites were by Stephen Ambrose and he has quite a few besides Band of Brothers. Thanks to all now serving, those who have, and those who will in the future. FLY NAVY!!!
