I know I'm late here by years but, being that I'm an old American that will never be there myself to see and experience this place dedicated to that time and what was done there I thank you. I am torn that you did this for men like me and came away so devastated by your trip and the emotions , thoughts and ideas it brought up for you. I wish I could just hug you and hold you. I also know that this was a trip you needed to make and experience even though it has changed you so deeply. If only humans could avoid making these mistakes over and over but I'm afraid it isn't possible. The world is at it again, Coming toward the same crossroads our forefathers faced. I only hope this time we can stop it before it goes so far. Still enjoy your cartoons and music videos and the nice things in life please. Be happy. Look for the positives. Now that you have seen the darkness that we can bring enjoy the goodness that most of the world has within it also. Live a good life so that the sacrifices of those before us are not in vain. They did it for us so that we may live well in safety and know peace. Hugs and best wishes from an old American.

My father served in the 8th Airborne and was stationed at the hospital in England for 4 years. Half of the guys that went up in those planes never came back. "You learn history to avoid repeating the same mistakes!", unfortunately today's generation in both America and Europe is clueless, but thank-you for honoring the Greatest Generation.

I just found your video today. Very touching tribute. My grandfather landed the 2nd day of DDAY on Omaha Beach. He never spoke about it much. He was reassigned to Pattons 3rd Army and when the push towards Germany commenced, they started liberating concentration camps. I can't imagine the horrors they witnessed. My grandmother passed away in 2021 at the age of 101. She helped the war effort by building jeeps for the Military. After she passed, we found Nazi and SS dog tags in a old foot locker. I enlisted in the Military after college. Your touching tribute of your video is so heart warming. Sadly over here in America, they don't even teach the kids history anymore. Thank you for what you do.

I see that you posted this along time ago, but I just discovered your channel today. This video was very special. Thank you very much. I liked and subscribed. My father fought in France, but not in Normandy. He landed in southern France along the French Riviera, near San Rafael and fought northward from there. If you ever decide to visit such places, Many battles were fought between Saarbrucken and Haguenau, well as the Alsace and Vosges region, and along the Maginot line.

My great grandpa drove General Patton around in Europe during the war, I have to say... seeing this video made me shed a tear, knowing a son, a brother, a nephew, a cousin never came home, but I take solace in knowing France appreciates the efforts made on that day... also... we never forgot what French soldiers & sailors did for our freedom as Americans, to say a debt was repaid... is one way to say... but Americans and French know the price of freedom and liberty, vive la liberté! ❤

Thank you for the wonderful video. My grandfather Alfred LaFreniere was born in Portage La Prairie MB. CDN. He was a hunting guide trapper, and fisherman born in 1890. He was of French / Indian heritage. He travelled with his best friend in a horse drawn cart to Fort Hughes in 1916 with his best friend. Joined the army and travelled by train to Valcartier Quebec for training. During training Alfred and his friend were transferred to the Royal 22nd { Vandoos] Regiment because he spoke mostly french and Saulteaux[First nation language]. He fought and Vimy Ridge and many other battles survived the Spanish Flu and returned to Canada. My grandfather always spoke to me in english. He was only 5 ft 9 inches and he never stopped laughing and joking.When the french speaking Canadian troops arrived in France the french people were amazed that some people actually spoke french in Canada. The French people treated our soldiers like family. Love , Peace , and Kindness from Canada.

Want to see a GREAT tribute to D-Day? My father Lew Campbell (1919-2016) landed on Normandy on D-Day+3 part of George Patton’s 2nd Armored Division. On the 70th anniversary of D-Day, Dad 94 at the time) sang our National Anthem in Phoenix before the D-Backs-Atl. Braves game. I invite and encourage everyone to search UA-cam for Lew Campbell. He NAILED it! But, the best part was walking with him through the crowd back to our seats. The response, the reception and the respect shown by thousands of fans brought us all to tears.

Fight/work as hard as possible to keep these alive! They are important. We do not want to become users of a single language, it destroys the atmosphere and would be boring and a tragedy for us all!

Any decent man or woman who visits that beautiful place would struggle to hold back the tears. I know I did when I visited with my young sons. I was on a flight from Toronto to New York, and the announcements are done in English and in French. Usually the majority of flight attendants would have Quebec accent. But today this flight attendant sounded like she was from some region in France. Her accent sounded nothing like the normal Quebec accent. So on my way out if the plane I asked her if she was French. And she is French, but then I said your French does not sound like Canadian French and she said that she is Canadian from Acadia. At which point I thought it must be close to France but after googling I found out it was part of martime Canada. I have to say that I was very surprised and now I want go visit to see the history of Acadia.
